Site access for Ethernet patching
4 Nov 2009, 11:00 amGranting site access for a tech at the co-location in your building may take a couple of steps. Patching cable from the carrier’s Ethernet service to your company’s rack may be one of these situations. To ensure quick tech work and avoid delay, here are a few steps that can be done to prepare.
Your company may be leasing rack location by a provider. In this case, site access for the carrier tech will need to be requested to the rack space provider. Generally a job ticket will be issued. Along with the rack location/suite number, this information can be submitted to the carrier. The carrier will then organise access directly with the rack space provider and the co-location provider to send their tech through. Approval may take a few days, but preparing this ahead of time is beneficial to meet the install target dates.
