What to look for when relocating your internet

22 Dec 2009, 4:20 pm

What to look for prior to your Internet relocation.

Arrow Voice & Data strongly recommends customers to consult their IT personal prior to any Internet relocation.

Things to look for is the current settings and if the customer require the same settings at the new location:

  • Service is NATed or Routed
  • New IP addresses and new LAN ranges assigned to all relocation’s orders unless the customer advises otherwise.
  • Reverse DNS or PTR record; Arrow voice & Data recommends customers to setup a PTR record if they are hosting their own e-mail to avoid a spam rejection to their outgoing e-mails.  Customers are to advise Arrow of their domain and the IP resolving that domain.
  • Customers to advise Arrow of any port forwarding required based on their network settings.
  • Down time is up to 5 working days if the customer wishes to keep their current WAN and LAN IPs.  Exception of Arrow ADSL and ADSL2+.
  • A new static IP to all ADSL and ADSL2+ relocations.
