Vodafone Mobile Coverage in Australia

28 May 2009, 10:57 am

One in every four mobile users on the planet is connected with Vodafone. That’s a lot of mobiles and a lot of mobile experience. Vodafone were part of the original team that developed GSM technology (now used by 860 networks in 220 countries and regions). Their experience and expertise goes along way in Australia too.

Currently, the Vodafone Australia Network, made up of GSM (voice), GPRS (data) and faster 3G (voice and data) network, covers 99.53% of Australia’s metro areas. With National Roaming activated, coverage reaches 94.52% of the entire Australian population.

But coverage isn’t just about coverage, it’s about quality coverage. What Vodafone learn around the world, they apply here in Australia, to offer better coverage and better service, which just keeps on getting better.

3G coverage is available in selected metro areas of capital cities and larger regional centres offering 3G coverage to 80 per cent of the population.

Recent upgrades expand 3G services to Vodafone customers in areas including Albury-Wodonga, Ballarat, Ballina, Bunbury, Byron Bay, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Kiama, Lismore, Mackay, Newcastle, Toowoomba, Townsville, Wollongong, Bowral, Nowra and Wagga Wagga.

Vodafone has also set the date for the second stage of the upgrade at 31 August 2009. When that goes live Vodafone 3G coverage will reach over 94 per cent of the Australian population.

See vodafone.com.au/coverage for details.
